Is a browser-extension crosslister safer than a cloud crosslister?
Asked on Reddit: “Opinions on crosslisting tools?” in r/reselling
Neither is automatically safer. A browser extension keeps your sign-ins and listings on your computer but only works while your browser is open. A cloud tool can work around the clock, but it holds access to your accounts on its servers. Choose by what you can live with.
The shortcut: Crosslisty is a browser extension: it uses the accounts you are already signed in to, asks for no passwords, and keeps your listings in your browser.
Add to Chrome, freeUpdated October 2026. Crosslisty is a Chrome extension (it also works in Brave and Edge) that copies a listing to the other marketplaces, fills each form for you, and removes sold items from your other listings.
How the two kinds work
- Browser extension. Runs inside your own browser, in tabs where you are already signed in.
- Cloud tool. Runs on the vendor’s servers and logs in to your marketplace accounts for you, or uses the marketplace’s own connection.
What an extension means for you
- Your sign-ins stay in your browser. No marketplace passwords are handed over.
- Your listings stay local. Crosslisty stores them in your browser and never sends them to its servers.
- Actions look like you, because they happen in your session at your pace.
- But it only works while the browser is open. Sale checks wait if you close it.
What a cloud tool means for you
- It can work around the clock, including delisting while your computer is off.
- It needs access to your accounts through a login or an official connection, held on the vendor’s servers.
- Actions come from the vendor’s servers, which some marketplaces treat differently from your own browser.
Does either one risk your account?
Marketplaces set their own rules about third-party tools, and enforcement varies. Vinted is the strictest. See what Vinted’s rules say and whether crosslisting is allowed. Any tool that acts for you carries some risk, and a tool that posts on its own carries more than one that fills a form and waits for your click.
How to choose
- Decide whether delisting while your computer is off matters to you.
- Decide how comfortable you are giving a vendor account access.
- Check what the tool does automatically and what it leaves to you.
- Test with a low-value item first.
